Creativity on the Canal
Alderbrook Resort & Spa’s Creativity on the Canal program underscores the property’s dedication to creative expression combining fine art exhibition, training, hands-on experience and more for artists of all levels. Creativity kits and supplies are available for purchase in each guest room, as well as in the Gift Shop. Each room is also equipped with complimentary sketchbooks and pencils for visitors to explore their artistic side and become inspired through nature, beauty, relaxation, recreation, music and everything Alderbrook has to offer.
COMPLIMENTARY GUEST EXPERIENCES
Alderbrook fosters a creative environment to encourage guests to engage with the Arts in a meaningful expression. Through rotating lobby art, painting, writing and drawing classes,easles and supplies distributed throughout the grounds and more, Alderbrook provides guests with amenities and resources at their fingertips to draw, paint and compose. When the weather warms up on the Canal, a weekly en Plein Air class is held on the waterfront lawn.Led by local artist Rob Kamin, the waterfront painting class is open to overnight guests at no charge & $10 for non-hotel guests.
FINE ART EXHIBITIONS
Regional, professional artists facilitate the installation and sale of a rotating exhibit of fine art in Alderbrook’s Gallery and Gift Shop. This consistent art-inspired theme provides beautiful pieces of art to observe, aiming to inspire artists of all levels. In addition, activities such as artist demonstrations, lectures, receptions and workshops are offered to guests and non-guests alike on a regular basis.
TRAINING IN FINE ARTS & WRITING
Alderbrook Resort & Spa hosts professional artists and published authors to facilitate the creative process through fine art trainings and workshops in a peaceful setting. A variety of workshops on the property, both indoor and outdoor, and in the surrounding area, are open to the public and to artists of all levels. The workshops are led by both local and nationally renowned artists and
authors and encompass a variety of themes and topics, such as traditional landscape and still life painting, as well as creative expository writing. Space is limited to allow for concentrated and intimate instruction.
