Getting Here Grounds Tour

End of the Summer Family Getaway-Guest Post by Erin Wakeman

Hi there! – – – I’m Erin of and my sweet family foursome has been traveling around the Pacific Northwest all summer and we’ve had the best of blasts! As the summer was wrapping up, we knew we needed to choose somewhere super special to spend our last summer family trip together as well as celebrate our oldest daughter’s 4th birthday. Boy oh boy did we land on a winner! Alderbrook Resort & Spa was just the getaway we were looking for! Right from the moment we drove up, we could tell we would feel right at home here. From the highest lobby ceilings with a hanging canoe to the double sided fireplace wrapped with couches and rocking chairs, I’m even not lying when I say we spent solid chunks of time just flipping the pages of the gorgeous coffee tables books, letting the girls get refills of cucumber lime water and snuggling on the sweet kitties, Alder and Brook. Shouldn’t that be the mark of a great stay? When you don’t even need to leave the lobby to feel rested? Mission accomplished.

From gorgeous breakfasts at the Restaurant of Alderbrook to gourmet s’mores at the edge of the water, we were smitten with the perfect balance of rest and play. Sipping Moscow Mules from the patio bar while watching my three favorite people run around the lawn is seared into my heart as one of the best summer memories we’ve made this year! Zoey turned 4 on our last day at Alderbrook and while we were putting tiny shoes on tiny feet and heading out the door for a few last minute adventures (Can you say paddleboat? So fun!), a knock on our hotel room door was followed by 4 birthday balloons and the prettiest plate of birthday cupcakes our 4 year old had ever laid eyes on. Thank you Alderbrook Staff for thinking of our little girl’s day and making it extra special!

We are so thankful to the entire staff at Alderbrook Resort & Spa for hosting us for one of our favorite and most special trips of the summer. If you get the chance to stop by Union, WA for a visit, be sure to book a cruise on the Lady Alderbrook! An afternoon boating around the Hood Cannal watching for whales and learning about the surrounding area with a yummy bar on board was the candle on top of pretty perfect cake for our trip. We’ll be back, friends!
